Job summary

Fort Madison Community School District seeks a dedicated Science Teacher for 7th & 8th grade at FM Jr/Sr High. The ideal candidate will foster an inclusive learning environment, design standards-aligned lessons, and implement district resources to support student growth.

Responsibilities include data-informed instruction, MTSS-based supports, PBIS-aligned classroom management, and collaborative planning with staff.

Qualifications

• Must have valid Iowa Teaching license and one of the following endorsements:
• 5-12 Science -Basic, 5-12 Science -All, K-8 Science, 5-8 Generalist
• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
• Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and assess engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and meet diverse student needs.
• Implement the high-quality curricular resources adopted by FMCSD.
• Create and sustain a positive classroom environment aligned with PBIS and MTSS.
• Utilize varied teaching methods and daily lesson plans following the district framework.
• Monitor student progress with formal and informal assessments and provide timely feedback.
• Identify individual student needs and provide targeted interventions and enrichment.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop common standards, assessments, and pacing.
• Maintain open communication with parents and the school community.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
