Job summary

Fort Madison Community School District seeks a passionate Special Education Teacher for the FM Jr/Sr High to foster an inclusive classroom and support students' academic and social growth.

The position emphasizes collaboration with staff, MTSS-based interventions, data-driven instruction, and alignment with state standards. A valid Iowa teaching license and appropriate endorsements are required; a Master’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Iowa Teaching license.
• Strat II-ID Endorsement or All Strat I & II Endorsement.
• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and assess engaging lesson plans aligned with state standards.
• Align instruction with the district's curricular resources and MTSS framework.
• Create a positive classroom environment that supports participation, respect, and collaboration.
• Analyze data to inform instructional decisions and differentiate learning.
• Monitor and evaluate student progress using formative/summative assessments; provide timely feedback.
• Collaborate with colleagues and specialists to provide targeted interventions and enrichment.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress and activities.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and reflective practice.

Education

Iowa teaching license
