Job summary

Victory College Prep is seeking an English teacher for a high school co-teaching environment in Indianapolis, IN. The position reports to the High School Principal and emphasizes collaborative, student-centered instruction with an advisory focus and internship opportunities.

Qualifications

• Teaching license in related subject area OR enrolled in accredited Transition to Teaching program
• Knowledge of No-Nonsense Nurturer and/or 4-Step Model for student behavior management helpful but not required
• Ability and willingness to work collaboratively, maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships
• Eagerness and ability to receive and implement feedback from manager, coach, and/or peers
• Ability to proactively build meaningful, positive relationships with all students
• Ability to be punctual and have a strong attendance record

Responsibilities

• Use state standards and curriculum to internalize rigorous, objective-driven lessons aligned with maps
• Work daily with associate/co-teacher to maintain a collaborative co-teaching environment
• Differentiate lessons for individual students based on learning needs
• Implement classroom procedures, systems, and routines to maximize instructional time
• Regularly assess and track student performance towards ambitious goals
• Use data to reflect on lesson effectiveness and student progress
• Communicate frequently with student families; promptly return calls and emails
• Use restorative practices to build positive classroom culture
• Collaborate with Behavior Support team to address student emotional well-being

• Differentiate lessons for individual students based on their unique learning needs
• Implement classroom procedures, systems, and routines that provide structure for students and maximize instructional time
• Regularly assess and track student performance towards ambitious student academic outcomes goals
• Use data to reflect on effectiveness of lessons and student achievement progress in order to improve instruction and teaching practice
• Communicate frequently and effectively with student families;promptly return phone calls and answer emails
• Use restorative practices to build positive classroom culture
• Work with the Behavior Support team to address student emotional and mental well being and needs
