About The Team

For this High School English Teacher position, you’ll be working at one of our two high schools in Philadelphia, recognized among the top high schools in the city. What You’ll Do

As part of Freire’s instructional team, you’ll work with standards-aligned curriculum to promote critical thinking and high achievement.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain a classroom culture of critical thinking, rigorous learning, respect, and high achievement.
• Leverage content-specific curriculum and create learning materials to promote problem solving.
• Establish regular communication with families regarding student progress and school information.
• Participate in professional development and collaborate with staff to support student needs.
• Teachers at Freire Charter High School may have opportunities to serve as CREW Leaders, co-leading classes focused on SEL and community building twice a week.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher
• Valid state teaching certification or willingness to obtain one
• Strong content knowledge
• Positive attitude, sense of humor, and dedication
• At least 2 years of successful experience working with diverse student populations

Pay and Benefits

Starting salaries for first-year certified teachers begin at $60,000. The annual salary range for this role is $50,000 - $85,000, based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include health, dental, vision, and a 403(b) retirement plan with a 5% employer contribution. Freire Schools is committed to a discrimination-free workplace.
