High School English Teacher

Love great books and love helping students find their voice? Jupiter Christian School is looking for a High School English teacher who brings literature to life, helps students read closely and write with clarity and conviction, and models a vibrant faith in Christ. You’ll teach college-level AP courses alongside core English classes, with the freedom to integrate a biblical worldview into every lesson and a team that will support you from day one.

Why You’ll Love Teaching at JCS
  • Teaching as ministry. Shape not just minds but hearts, in a school where faith is woven into every classroom, every day.
  • A mission you can believe in. Since 1963, JCS has been committed to teaching the mind, reaching the heart, and inspiring servant leaders to impact the world for Jesus Christ.
  • Rigorous, engaged students. Teach English Language and English Literature to students preparing for college and beyond.
  • Room to innovate. Design writing workshops, Socratic seminars, and project-based learning, try new digital tools, and build authentic learning experiences.
  • Support from day one. New faculty are paired with a mentor through our New Employee Introduction & Mentorship Program, plus collaborative teams and ongoing professional development.
  • A real community. Lead a club, join a retreat, chaperone REACH week, and build relationships with students beyond the bell.
What You’ll Do
  • Teach High School English, which may include English Language & Composition, English Literature & Composition, and English 9-12.
  • Integrate a biblical worldview into instruction and help students engage thoughtfully with literature, ideas, and their place in God’s story.
  • Create a positive, safe classroom that supports students’ spiritual, academic, emotional, and social growth.
  • Plan engaging lessons using the JCS curriculum guides, and contribute to updating them.
  • Teach reading, writing, grammar, and research skills; differentiate instruction and design learner-driven activities that meet every student where they are.
  • Assess student progress, give timely and constructive feedback on writing, and adjust instruction; communicate progress clearly with students, parents, and administration.
  • Use technology for teaching and productivity (Office 365, Canvas) and explore new digital tools.
  • Collaborate with your department and grade-level team; maintain accurate classroom records and resources.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, trainings, and select evening events (Curriculum Night, Open House, Parent Conferences).
  • Serve on a school committee and as a chaperone or advisor for activities such as REACH week, retreats, clubs, and advisory.
  • Sponsor at least one co-curricular or extracurricular opportunity for students each year.
Who You Are
  • A follower of Jesus Christ with a clear testimony of personal faith and active involvement in an evangelical local church.
  • A Christian role model to students, parents, and colleagues (1 Timothy 4:12), in and out of school.
  • Someone who supports and serves well under school leadership, and communicates with integrity, discretion, and respect.
  • A collaborative teammate and lifelong learner who enjoys growing alongside students.
Qualifications
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in English, English Education, or a related field.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Education or English.
  • Preferred: Three or more years of teaching experience; AP teaching experience or AP training a strong plus.
  • Preferred: Florida teaching certification in English (6-12) or eligible to obtain.

Employment at JCS is subject to the Conditions of Employment in the JCS Faculty Contract and a successful background screening.
