Job summary

Uncommon Schools seeks a dedicated High School ELA teacher to foster a rigorous, college-ready learning environment in New York. You will guide students through inclusive literature studies, develop critical reading and writing skills, and lead student-centered discussions.

Strong collaboration with colleagues and ongoing professional development are expected for student success. You will participate in weekly coaching, PD sessions, and a culture that values equity, mentorship, and community

Responsibilities

• Teach from an inclusive literature curriculum aligned to AP/SAT prep.
• Guide students to analyze books and lead meaningful, student-led discourse.
• Develop independent and collaborative reading, writing, and discussion skills.
• Facilitate evidence-based claims and synthesis of arguments.
• Assess student progress and adapt lessons to maximize learning.
• Collaborate with department and grade-team on instructional strategies.
