Job summary

Second Mile is seeking a Teacher - English Language Arts Interventionist to coach and motivate high school students within our educational model focused on mastery and IGPs. The role emphasizes data-driven instruction, rigorous reading support, and accountability for student progress.

The ideal candidate holds a Masters or Bachelor’s in a related subject or a valid teaching certificate and has prior high school teaching experience, preferably with overage or at-risk youth.

Qualifications

• Masters or Bachelor’s degree in related subject or valid teaching certificate.
• Previous high school teaching experience
• Knowledge of secondary education principles
• Knowledge of curriculum and instructional theory
• Ability to analyze data to drive program improvement
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Provide a learning environment of high student accountability aligned with academic goals.
• Provide direction and leadership within the school by applying best practices in reading and intervention.
• Maintain and analyze progress-monitoring reports, reading records, and benchmark data.
• Collaborate with peers to implement best educational practices for students’ needs.
• Participate in professional development to maintain credentials.
• Support initiatives to meet enrollment and attendance goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned per policy and procedures.
