Job summary

Second Mile Education is seeking a Reading Teacher to coach and instruct high school students under our mastery-based model. The role emphasizes student accountability, alignment with IGPs, and engagement through effective instructional practices.

The candidate must hold a Florida Reading or ESOL endorsement and a valid teaching certificate, with a bachelor’s degree in Education. Prior work with at‑risk youth is a plus, and collaboration with peers is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
• Florida teaching certification with Reading or ESOL endorsement.
• Knowledge of the principles of secondary education.
• Knowledge of curriculum and instructional theory.
• Ability to analyze and use data to drive program improvement.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience with at-risk youth preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide a learning environment with high student accountability aligned to objectives.
• Lead and demonstrate effective teaching/instructional techniques.
• Assist in achieving FTE enrollment and attendance goals.
• Maintain progress monitoring reports and student records as required.
• Collaborate with peers to implement best educational practices.
• Participate in professional development to maintain certification.
