Job summary

Watseka Community High School seeks a High School Counselor to provide counseling services, participate in diagnostic teams, and assist with educational planning and placement committees. This role offers casework support, group work services, and collaboration with administrators on student adjustments and crisis planning.

The position requires a Master’s in Counseling or Social Work, a Type 73 credential, and active certification as a Counselor or Social Worker.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in counseling or social work is required.
• Type 73 School Service Personnel Certificate is preferred.
• Must be registered as a Certified Counselor or Social Worker.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Serve as counselor/consultant to students, parents, and teachers.
• Offer educational group work services to students.
• Offer casework services to children referred who struggle to adjust.
• Participate as a member of the school personnel team and write evaluations at multidisciplinary staffing.
• Make referrals to appropriate agencies when severe problems hinder adjustment.
• Conduct and assist in-service workshops for teachers in professional development.
