The counselor will collaborate with teachers, families, and community partners, provide individual and group counseling, coordinate college and career readiness activities, and help students transition from middle to high school.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in school counseling from an accredited program.
• Illinois certification as a school counselor.
• Bilingual (Spanish-speaking) preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual planning sessions for each student in academic planning and career awareness.
• Assist in transition to high school and post-secondary options.
• Interpret tests, student data, and other assessments and discuss results with students/parents.
• Assist students in times of emotional need and/or crisis.
• Provide information and skills to parents, staff, and community to assist student development.
• Coordinate and assist with student testing programs and career/college planning.
