Job summary

KIPP North Carolina Public Schools is seeking a part-time cheer coach to choreograph and teach routines for the school's cheerleading squad, oversee practice times after classes, and supervise the team at games and events.

You will mentor students, promote discipline and teamwork, coordinate with the Athletic Director and Principal, hold tryouts, attend summer cheer camps, and help raise funds for the program while ensuring safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Extensive training and experience in cheerleading and choreography preferred.
• Demonstrates leadership and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Choreographs and teaches cheer routines to the squad.
• Schedules practices with the Athletic Director and Principal; conducts year-round practices.
• Coaches individuals, groups, and the team to develop necessary skills.
• Provides input on safety conditions of facilities used for practice or performance.
• Supervises and directs the cheerleading squad during sporting events.
• Enforces squad rules and communicates infractions to parents/administrators.
• Holds tryouts or auditions and communicates results to the Principal.
• Attends cheerleading camps with the team each summer.
• Models high moral character and promotes cooperation and sportsmanship.
• Encourages participation in other campus events and community service.
• Plans team-building and morale-building activities.
• Maintains communication with parents/guardians as appropriate.
• Supports students’ academic success with faculty collaboration.
• Works with departments to raise funds for the program.
