Job summary

KIPP Pride High School is seeking a Winter and Spring Head Varsity Track & Field Coach to lead and develop a successful program for 2700+ students across NC. The role requires coaching, mentorship, and adherence to school and league rules.

The position is part-time with a seasonal stipend and responsibilities include team travel, fundraiser coordination, and maintaining athlete eligibility. Evening hours and background check are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; volleyball coaching experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with players, parents and school administration.
• Availability to work evenings; ability to travel with team for away games; background check required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and direct the athletic program in compliance with school and governing regulations.
• Manage coaching staff, volunteers and athletes; coordinate with athletic director and staff.
• Schedule games, arrange travel, and lead fundraising efforts for athletic programs.
• Monitor academic and athletic eligibility of athletes and maintain confidentiality.

Job Description

KIPP Pride High School is one of 7 KIPP schools located across the state of North Carolina serving more than 2700 students in grades K-12. We are in search of a Winter and Spring Head Varsity Track & Field Coach who has the ability and experience to lead and develop a successful track & field program in all areas.

Essential Job Functions:

Under general direction of the athletic director plans, implements and directs the athletic program at in compliance with appropriate rules and regulations as outlined by KIPP Pride High School, state, local, and conference requirements

• Responsible for team management duties including coaching, training, and any other support activities that are necessary for student athletes to enjoy successful academic and sports careers;
• Works within budget set with the athletic director for the team in which he/she is the head coach.
• Schedules, in cooperation with athletic staff, game and officials;
• Works with support organizations on fundraising activities for the athletic programs;
• Establishes and evaluates goals for the athletic team program;
• Develops and oversees an annual orientation program for athletes and parents;
• Develops and disseminates team schedules for the team's events;
• Ensures ongoing academic and disciplinary eligibility of athletes;
• Supervises all assistant coaches and athletes, including volunteers, and reports issues to principal;
• Coordinates all team travel
• Maintains confidentiality of information exposed to in the course of business regarding students, supervisors or other employees;
• May be asked to assist with other coaching responsibilities as needed;

Qualifications

Minimum Education, Skills and Abilities:

• High School degree or equivalent; previous volleyball coaching experience gained in club, youth or rec leagues, high school or college. Ability to communicate effectively with players, parents and school administration.
• Work Environment: Operates in a variety of conditions including office, gymnasium, training rooms and outdoors.
• Availability to work evenings. Ability to travel to practices and with team for away games; Physical ability to train and coach athletic teams; Must pass a background check.

Additional Information

This is a part-time role and paid as a seasonal stipend. It is not eligible for benefits, but can be combined with a full time staff/faculty position.
