Job summary

rootEd is seeking an embedded Advisor in Oklahoma schools to proactively guide high school students through career exploration, postsecondary attainment and workforce credentialing. You will partner with counselors, support college applications, FAFSA, and related processes while tracking student outcomes.

The role involves building pathways, coordinating with districts, and engaging local industries. Travel to events and strong collaboration skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
• Excellent relational skills with diverse people.
• Experience in education, social work, counseling or advising.
• Familiar with career development, college placement testing, financial aid processes.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to plan and organize small events.
• Proficiency with computer operations and learning new software.
• Clear communication via email, phone, video chat, text, and public speaking.
• Availability to travel to high school and community events as needed.
• Ability to work well with others.

Responsibilities

• Meet one-on-one with seniors to develop and succeed in success plans.
• Build relationships with students through regular meetings for postsecondary planning.
• Monitor and document progress related to key performance data metrics.
• Refine and expand pathways aligning coursework with career goals and college plans.
• Guide seniors through FAFSA and financial aid processes.
• Navigate college applications, housing, scholarships, and orientation steps.
• Develop case-management strategies to boost postsecondary attainment.
• Connect students to internal and external resources for success.
• Collaborate with counselors for smooth transitions to postsecondary success.
• Engage local industries via meetings or career fairs for opportunities.
