Position Summary/Job Goals:

You’ll help us develop and teach courses in Biology to students in High School. Identify varying teaching methods that work best for all students. You will keep parents informed of the progress of their children. As a genuine team player, you’ll work across the High School division to ensure students are learning and growing.

Job Responsibilities

• Village School teachers should be knowledgeable about their department and the curriculum developed there, as well as the school environment as a whole.
• Provide information about special programs offered and the philosophy of the school.
• Work cooperatively with school Directors, Instructional Coach, Coordinators, Department Heads, and other Teachers to ensure instructional programs are coordinated and administered uniformly.
• Maintain a learning-focused classroom culture based on high expectations, routines, and mutual respect.
• Be knowledgeable about what they teach and the children they teach to plan for the challenges students face.
• Provide appropriate scaffolding and support such as guided practice and feedback to ensure all students gain confidence.
• Include opportunities for students to explain, discuss, explore, reflect, and solve problems to encourage critical and creative thinking.
• Be flexible and responsive to student needs by using formative assessment strategies.
• Accurately measure and report student attainment using collaboratively developed assessments.
• Plan sequences of lessons that deepen understanding and master increasingly complex skills.
• Seek to continually improve by being open to coaching and engaging in professional development opportunities.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Demonstrated success teaching a HS Biology curriculum for at least 3 years.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study.
• Experience teaching HS Biology or AP Biology is desirable.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
• Good cross-cultural, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Excellent analytical skills with a passion for demonstrating success.
• Results-oriented with the ability to map efforts against identified KPIs.
• Excellent time management skills and flexibility.
• You’d like to work in a purpose-led sector.
