Job summary

Illinois School District U-46 is seeking a High School Assistant Coach for the Lower Levels Basketball program at South Elgin High School. The role supports the head coach in practices, game preparation, student motivation, and sport-specific instruction.

You will work with the athletic department to manage schedules, ensure eligibility, and uphold the district's standards for sportsmanship and academic balance throughout the season.

Qualifications

• Proper certification with American Sport Education Program and/or Valid Illinois Teaching certificate.
• Pass IHSA required tests and view videos.
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist head coach with organization of the program and practices.
• Develop game and practice schedules in coordination with the head coach.
• Ensure participants are registered, eligible, and maintaining sportsmanship and safety.
• Maintain inventory and care of equipment; supervise students before, during, and after practices and contests.
• Communicate with athletes, staff, parents, and administration to support successful programs.
