Job summary

Loudoun County Public Schools in Leesburg, VA, seeks an assistant basketball coach for Tuscarora High School for the winter season (November – February). The role requires working with the head athletic coach and athletic department to maintain a well-structured program.

Responsibilities include attending staff meetings, supporting disciplinary actions, and promoting sportsmanship and school pride among athletes, with additional duties as assigned by principal and athletic director.

Qualifications

• Coaching experience at high school or college level preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification required or enrolled in a course.
• Prefer experience as a teacher or classified employee in Loudoun County Public Schools.
• Prefer a Virginia Teaching License candidate or a full-time classified employee for LCPS.

Responsibilities

• Work cooperatively with the head athletic coach to operate a well structured program.
• Work cooperatively with the athletic department.
• Attend all staff meetings prescribed by the head athletic coach during the season.
• Carry out specific duties designated by the head athletic coach.
• Recommend equipment and supplies needed for the implementation of a sports program.
• Recommend suggested disciplinary actions regarding players violating training rules and procedures.
• Foster among the athletes a desire to win, an attitude of good sportsmanship, personal pride, and pride for their school and community.
• Perform other duties related to the position of assistant athletic coach as requested by the high school principal and/or athletic director.
