Job summary

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required and teaching certification in Alabama.
Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.
Knowledge of child development and learning styles; ability to implement varied teaching methods.

Responsibilities

Create or select long-range plans based on system and state curriculum priorities and student profiles.
Define goals and objectives for unit and daily plans.
Sequence content and activities appropriately.
Identify specific learning outcomes that are challenging, meaningful and measurable.
Revise plans based on student needs.
Plan and prepare a variety of learning activities considering diverse student backgrounds.
Develop or select instructional activities that foster active student engagement.
Plan and prepare lessons and strategies supporting the school improvement plan and district mission.
Select, modify and adapt materials to address learning styles and needs.
Establish and maintain a positive and safe learning environment.
Maintain a clean, organized learning space.
Use motivational techniques to sustain academic focus.
Establish behavior management procedures and routines.
Create a challenging yet non-threatening learning climate.
Ensure efficient transitions and instructional momentum.
Establish testing environments and ensure test security.
Maintain records and administrative procedures.
Coordinate use of time and resources for effective instruction.
Support enforcement of school rules and policies.
Use assessment data to guide instructional planning and improvement.
Communicate student progress to parents and colleagues.
