Job summary

Storm Lake High School is seeking a High School Athletic Coach for the 9th grade baseball program. The coach will plan practices, conduct competitions, teach sport-specific skills, and promote teamwork, safety, and academic achievement.

Required licensure includes a valid Iowa Coaching Authorization or Coaching Endorsement. Candidates must be 18+, have a high school diploma, CPR certification, NFHS concussion training, mandatory reporter training, and completion of a 55-hour coaching course.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Iowa Coaching Authorization or Coaching Endorsement through the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners (BoEE).
• Minimum age 18 and a high school diploma or equivalent.
• CPR certification
• NFHS concussion training
• Mandatory reporter training
• Completion of a 55-hour coaching course
• Authorization must remain current and in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct effective practices and competitions.
• Teach sport-specific skills, strategies, and rules.
• Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and respect.
• Ensure the safety and supervision of student-athletes at all times.
• Enforce school and district policies and athletic codes of conduct.
• Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, and school staff.
• Support academic expectations and eligibility requirements.
• Maintain equipment and facilities.
• Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development.
• Follow all district, conference, and state athletic association rules.
