Job summary

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) seeks a School Athletic Director to oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive high school athletics program, reporting to the Principal and the Executive Director, Sports Administration. The role administers programs, maintains required records, and coordinates transportation and game scheduling.

The AD will develop handbooks and policy materials, monitor student-athlete academic performance, manage department budgets, supervise coaches and staff,

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
NIAAA Registered Athletic Administrator (RAA) preferred.
Minimum of five years in interscholastic sports with at least three in administration.

Responsibilities

Administers the extracurricular athletic programs, activities, and events.
Oversees budgeting, purchasing, and capital improvements related to athletics.
Maintains compliance with CPS and IHSA policies and state regulations.
Coordinates transportation, facilities, and scheduling for athletic programs.
Ensures safety, eligibility, and fair play across all sports.
