Athletic trainers are an integral part of services and support for the district's 9th‑12th grade students. High school students are in a developmental period of their lives where they are finding out who they are, what they do well, and what they want to do after they graduate. They are seeking a sense of belonging and peer acceptance at a time when they may also face increased pressures. Competitive sport provides an opportunity for students to develop confidence, leadership skills, goal setting and time management which support students’ engagement and academic achievement in school. Athletic trainers play a critical role in supporting the district's athletic programs to ensure students have a safe, enriching experience.
Athletic trainers coordinate with the Athletic Director and coaches to ensure the safety of student athletes by establishing an effective athletic training program. The employee must understand and abide by all building, district and Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) policies, regulations, procedures and guidelines. This description represents key areas of responsibilities; specific other duties may be assigned.
