Job description

Term: 2025-26 School Year

Hours/Schedule: 5 days a week / 6.0 hours per day / 200 days

Contract/Salary: 2025-26 Non-Rep Salary Schedule - Athletic Trainer ($30.00 per/hour), SEBB insurance, Washington DRS, paid days off (12 sick leave days and 2 personal days)

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association and maintain this certification through regular attainment of CEUs
  • Athletic Trainer License through the State of Washington
  • Display professionalism, enthusiasm, creativity, and flexibility
  • Work effectively with all constituents at Montesano: students, faculty, staff, administrators, coaches, parents and guardians
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Able to assist with or transfer athletes of various heights/weights
  • Able to stand for long periods of time, have good mobility skills, and be able to walk long distances
  • At least five years of experience in independent schools, high school athletics, or collegiate athletics is preferred
  • Possess or ability to maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Athletic training experience preferred
  • Current first aid and CPR cards
  • First Aid/CPR Instructor credentials preferred
  • Training in current taping techniques
  • Knowledge of athletic injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation
Job Performance Responsibilities
  • Provide services to all Montesano Jr/Sr High School student-athletes beginning with the start of the first fall sports season.
  • Event coverage:
  • High School and Junior High home games & practices
  • Check-in with each event
  • After checking in with all events stay at event where most injuries happen historically
  • Away High School games as schedule allows
  • Priority for close away games such as Aberdeen, Elma, Hoquiam
  • Provide coverage for games on any non-work/holidays as schedule allows
  • Provide Athletic Trainer services for all visiting away teams who do not bring their own Athletic Trainer and who do not decline our services
  • Injuries:
  • Handle emergency management of student-athlete injuries
  • With work local EMT’s. View this as a collaboration
  • Strong, quick critical thinking skills in emergency situations
  • Ability to quickly decide and contact local EMT’s in emergency situations
  • Respond to First Aid/CPR emergencies while on campus
  • Supervise and work in the training room during peak hours, treating injuries and developing preventative programs to minimize sports-related injuries and issues
  • Manage supplies and monitor all training room equipment, including med kits and ice packs for school groups
  • Maintain a system of confidential record keeping for each student-athlete who is treated
  • Hold open office hours to evaluate new injuries and provide extensive rehabilitation
  • Initiate and sustain communications between injured student-athletes family, teachers, and administrators
  • Maintain a broad referral base of healthcare practitioners for injured student-athletes and their families
  • Educate coaches about healthcare topics and the role of ATC in supporting teams
  • Read all medical information of student-athletes and communicate vital information to coaches
  • Maintain effective communication with parents and health care provider(s) for the purpose of providing students with the best possible injury prevention, response, management, and rehabilitation
  • Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Complete work at assigned workstations
  • Consistently deal with people in a professional manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned
