Job summary

Wake Preparatory Academy is seeking a High School Assistant Director for the 2026–2027 academic year. The role supports EC services and the fine arts department, and involves collaboration with the Director to implement WPA curricula and PLC processes.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and background check; Master’s degree and leadership experience are preferred. Competitive salary and benefits are offered based on education and experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; background check.
  • Master’s degree preferred for advanced leadership responsibilities.
  • 5+ years of teaching experience considered a strong asset.
  • Leadership or school administration experience is highly desirable.
  • Formal training or experience in classical education is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee EC (Exceptional Children) services and the fine arts department; supervise in the Director's absence.
  • Collaborate to implement PLC processes, instructional models, and WPA-approved curriculum.
  • Document PLC meeting agendas, tutoring logs, and teacher communications.
  • Monitor lesson planning and grading practices; provide constructive feedback.
  • Observe and evaluate staff using formal/informal rubrics and articulate expectations.
  • Provide professional development and coaching in collaboration with the Director.
  • Support Teacher Improvement Plans and standardized testing oversight.
  • Analyze student data; help build Master Schedule and class rosters.
  • Attend IEP/504 meetings as LEA/504 Coordinator; oversee MTSS processes.
  • Ensure policy compliance and oversee Instructional Coaches and Reading Specialists where applicable.
  • Address student behavior issues and maintain student handbook compliance.
  • Coordinate Parent-Teacher and Student-Led conferences; document attendance.

Job description

We handle the day-to-day work so that client school boards can focus on governance and policy issues to be sure that the vision and mission of the school are being carried out properly.

Wake Preparatory Academyis now accepting applications for aHigh School Assistant Directorfor the 2026–2027 academic year. This position will help to oversee our Exceptional Children (EC) services and our fine arts department.Candidates must be willing to undergo a background check.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assume supervision on behalf or in the absence of the Director.
  • Collaborate with the Director to oversee the effective implementation of the Professional Learning Community (PLC) process, EEL Instructional Model, and WPA-approved curriculum.
  • Oversee documentation of PLC meeting agendas, tutoring sign-in logs, teacher newsletters, etc.
  • Monitor lesson plan development and grading practices, providing feedback as needed.
  • Observe and evaluate teacher/staff performance using BCLA’sinformal/formal evaluation rubrics.
  • Effectively articulate performance expectations with staff.
  • Collaborate with the Director to provide professional development and coaching to staff as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Director to develop and enforce Teacher Improvement Plans.
  • Oversee all benchmark, state, and other required standardized testing.
  • Analyze and report student data.
  • Collaborate with the Director to build Master Schedule and class rosters.
  • Attend IEP and 504 meetings, serving as LEA and 504 Coordinator as needed.
  • Oversee MTSS team and process.
  • Collaborate with the Director to establish and maintain BCLAexpectations for policy and procedure compliance.
  • Collaborate with the Director to provide oversight of Instructional Coach(es), and Reading Specialist(s) (if applicable).
  • Address student behavior and student handbook compliance as needed.
  • Oversee coordination of Parent-Teacher and Student-Led Conferences; Maintain documentation of attendance.
  • Assist the Director with hiring of teachers and staff.
  • Build and maintain rapport with staff, students, and families.
  • Resolve conflict among stakeholders as needed and accurately document stakeholder feedback.
  • Lead campus-wide initiatives and coordinate and attend campus events as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
