White Swan High School in White Swan, Washington is seeking a part-time High School Assistant Coach for Cross Country. The role reports to the Athletic Director, supporting the coaching staff and overseeing safety, game-day operations, and program development.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, successful coaching experience, and current first-aid/ CPR qualifications or enrollment in CPR. Candidates must be at least 19, with a clean driving record and ability to manage youth

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Recognize responsibilities within WIAA and Mt. Adams SD policies.
• Assist in athletic department activities as directed by head coach.
• Help organize the season start and administrative tasks.
• Ensure safety and welfare of participants; enforce injury procedures.
• Coordinate with other coaches to support team needs.
• Supervise home and away games and travel when needed.
• Assist with scouting duties as assigned by head coach.
• File accident reports when applicable.
• Supervise dressing room and ensure athletes depart safely.
• Teach fundamentals, develop leaders, and promote sportsmanship.
• Maintain equipment and playing surfaces; prepare athletes for competition.
• Occasionally drive students in district vehicles.

Skills and Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Hold current first aid certification
• Hold a valid current “hands-on CPR certification or be enrolled in a “hands-on” CPR course
• Complete Washington State Patrol Criminal History background check
• Complete OSPI Moral Character Supplemental form
• Be at least 19 years of age

• Demonstrated skill in program development and evaluation
• Demonstrated ability to motivate young athletes
• Ability to organize program for high school students
• Commitment to uphold policies and expectations of the school district

Reports to: Athletic Director

Major Tasks and Responsibilities

• The assistant coach must recognize his/her responsibilities for conducting his/her team activities within the policies and regulations established by the WIAA and Mt. Adams School District Board
• Assist in the department of the athletic program as directed by the head coach
• Assist the head coach in organizational matters at the beginning of a particular sports season
• Provide for safety and welfare of participants. Stress safety precautions and awareness of appropriate training and injury procedures
• Cooperate with and consider the needs of other coaches
• Accompany and direct all games at home or out of town for the team assigned to his/her supervision
• Assume reasonable scouting duties as assigned by head coach
• File accident reports when applicable
• Be responsible for the participants from the time they report until they leave for home supervise the dressing room facilities while being used by athletes. Coaches will not leave the facility until the last athlete has gone home
• Teach and develop fundamental skills, develop able leaders and followers, foster cooperation and exhibit good sportsmanship by students engaged in activities and/or spectators
• Maintain sports equipment and playing surfaces
• Prepare and condition athletes for competition
• Occasional driving students in district vehicles

Position Type: Part-Time Salary: $1,926 to $1,926 Stipend
