Job summary

The Pullman School District is seeking an Assistant Cross Country Coach at Lincoln Middle School in Pullman, Washington. The role supports the Head Coach in developing and maintaining a successful athletic program and in mentoring student athletes in competitive cross country running.

Main duties include preparing for games, teaching proper attitudes toward winning and losing, and coordinating player development while adhering to WIAA and district guidelines. Equal opportunity employer.

  • Must be 19 years old per WIAA regulations.
  • Current First Aid/CPR card.

Job Description

DEFINITION OF POSITION : To assist in the development and maintenance of a successful athletic program

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR : Head Coach

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Evidence of successful competitive playing and/or coaching experience
  • Must be 19 years old per WIAA regulations
  • Current First Aid/CPR card

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • College/University training or experience in the activity
  • Coaching experience at the middle school level

ESSENTIAL JOB-RELATED ACTIVITIES :

  • Work positively with student athletes to teach essential athletic skills necessary to compete, teach proper attitudes to play the sport competitively, and teach proper attitudes regarding winning gracefully and losing with dignity
  • Game preparation
  • Positive presentation of the program to the community
  • Work within guidelines of WIAA, Bi-State League and the Pullman School District
  • Provide leadership in developmental programs
  • Coordinate player development and skill level
  • Cooperate with other school programs
  • Develop support for the program from players, students, parents and community
  • Adjust system to player personnel available upon recommendation of head coach
  • Possess and practice strong interpersonal skills with a wide variety of people both inside and outside the organization (staff, parents, community members, other agencies)
  • Be a positive team builder who works in a collaborative manner
  • Meet multiple demands in pressure situations and maintain high levels of quality work
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Communicate clearly, both orally and in writing
  • Regularly demonstrate professionalism in appearance, actions, decisions, and overall performance

TERMS OF CONTRACT :

  • Salary: Stipend Position: $2,648-$3,098 per school year - The filling of this position is dependent upon the number of participants.
