Job summary
Ephraim McDowell Health is seeking a Patient Safety and High Reliability Specialist for 1st shift to advance a system-wide safety framework across inpatient and ambulatory care. This role bridges governance with bedside operations, guiding risk mitigation, event management, and Just Culture adoption across medical staff, nursing, pharmacy, and security.
The position requires extensive clinical leadership, knowledge of CIHQ CMS OPC, OSHA guidelines, and data analytics.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership and/or clinical experience in a complex hospital or health system.
- Knowledge of clinical quality and patient safety.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related clinical discipline.
- Preferred Master’s Degree (MSN/MHA/MBA/MPH).
- Certification in patient safety (CPPS) and/or healthcare quality (CPHQ).
Responsibilities
- Directs enterprise safety plan and accreditation readiness.
- Operationalize High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles.
- Leads standardized patient safety event management and harm reduction.
- Oversees safety analytics and continuous improvement projects.
- Collaborates with clinical and operational leaders on safety education and policy.
