Job summary

SLB is seeking a High Pressure Hydraulics System Engineer in Provo, Utah. The role blends design and hands‑on work, roughly 50/50 between engineering tasks and assembly/testing in the shop.

You will design hydraulic and mechanical systems, create 3D models and drawings, and validate designs for high‑pressure equipment used in industrial applications. Requirements include a BS in Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years of hydraulic design experience, and proficiency with Creo and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum 5 years designing, developing, and troubleshooting hydraulic systems.
  • Proficiency with PTC Creo and AutoCAD.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic components, circuits, valves, pumps, cylinders, and system diagnostics.
  • Solid understanding of material properties, mechanical strength, stress analysis and engineering design principles.
  • Strong analytical problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.

High Pressure Hydraulics System Engineer

Position Summary

An experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in hydraulic systems and mechanical equipment design, and high-pressure equipment. This is a hands‑on role for an engineer who enjoys designing, building, testing, and improving complex industrial machinery.

The successful candidate will divide their time between engineering design and hands‑on work in the shop, spending approximately 50% of their time supporting equipment assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and design validation. This position requires close collaboration with engineers, technicians, and manufacturing personnel and a willingness to contribute mechanical design expertise on projects led by others.

Experience with high‑temperature, high‑pressure press systems used in industrial diamond manufacturing or similar extreme‑pressure applications is highly desirable.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop hydraulic and mechanical systems for industrial equipment.
  • Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using PTC Creo and AutoCAD.
  • Perform mechanical analysis, including component sizing, material selection, stress considerations, and design validation.
  • Develop and evaluate prototypes, perform testing, troubleshoot issues, and implement design improvements.
  • Provide mechanical design expertise and technical input to support projects led by other engineers.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering to solve complex technical problems.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with high‑temperature, high‑pressure press systems, particularly those used in industrial diamond or similar manufacturing processes.
  • Project management experience, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating engineering projects.
  • Experience with DFM, FEA and other engineering tools.
