Job summary

The New York City Department of Transportation seeks a maintenance worker to tend oil or gas-fired hot water generators and chillers at the Staten Island Ferry facilities. Under direct supervision, you will assist in maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment and related systems.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time satisfactory experience operating and maintaining high pressure boilers or the equivalent marine experience.
• Not less than one year of experience as described above plus sufficient training in a relevant field; six months credit for each year of approved trade school.

Responsibilities

• Tends and operates oil/gas-fired hot water generators/chillers and related equipment.
• Assists in cleaning, inspecting, testing, maintaining and repairing equipment and systems.
• Wipes down boilers, pumps, electric control boxes, and other boiler room equipment; sweeps and mops floors.
• May climb ladders and use hand and powered tools in performing duties.
• Uses computers and Building Management Systems (BMS) to operate and monitor equipment.
