GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC seeks an ICE Valvetrain Technical Specialist to aid design, validation, and optimization of high-performance engine components. You will direct valvetrain system design, coordinate with suppliers, and mentor junior engineers to ensure durability and competitive performance.

The role requires a mechanical engineering background, 5+ years in racing engine environments, and proficiency with valvetrain design tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in a similar role with high-level racing engine parts.
• Experience or strong understanding of engine valvetrain design and basic analysis.
• Knowledge of materials behavior, thermal/mechanical loading, and structural response.

Responsibilities

• Direct the design and execution of the engine valvetrain system including camshaft and valvetrain components.
• Lead the design and analysis to meet stress, stiffness, mass, durability, and cost targets.
• Direct design/analysis of camshaft and fuel pump lift profiles.
• Guide external partners' valvetrain work and review deliverables.
• Define testing requirements to verify performance and reliability.
• Establish quality checks for components and systems before testing or engine build.
• Mentor junior designers and engineers as needed.
• Support program milestones, deliverables, and technical objectives with status updates.
