Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC is seeking a Head of Engine Design to lead the ICE design organization for our high-performance powertrain program. You will guide a multidisciplinary team of engineers and specialists, delivering robust, manufacturable designs on time and within budget.

The role requires a Master’s degree and 10+ years in powertrain development, with proven leadership and strong knowledge of ICE design, validation, and release processes.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical/Automotive/Motorsport Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in high-performance powertrain development (F1/IndyCar/WEC) or comparable racing engines.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of ICE design, validation, manufacturing, and release processes.
• Experience with Siemens NX or equivalent CAD/PLM tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of ICE components and systems from concept through release and validation.
• Ensure compliance with engine specifications, internal design standards, and FIA regulations.
• Own design schedules, deliverables, resource planning, and milestones for the ICE Design organization.
• Coordinate cross-functional interfaces to ensure successful engine integration.
