Job summary

Wichita Public Schools seeks a Para Sped High Incidence to assist the teacher in delivering educational instruction and managing student behavior for high incidence special education students. The role involves supervision, routine management, and coordination with staff and families.

Under supervision, you will help implement IEP goals, use technology in instruction, and support safe, inclusive classroom environments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Paras working in a Title School must have a minimum of 48 accredited college credits verifiable with a transcript or pass a state approved assessment.
• Some positions may require knowledge of sign language modalities, Braille, NCI or other special skills.
• Some positions require in-service training in first aid, abuse symptoms, and illness signs.

Responsibilities

• Supervises students in class setting as directed by the teacher.
• Assists in managing classroom routines and procedures.
• Assists in interventions to redirect behavior and document occurrences.
• Assists the teacher by supervising activities on and off campus.
• Helps implement student behavior plans and supports student engagement.
• Supports student transitions to and from various areas within the building.
• Sets up the classroom for group instruction and tech-enabled activities.
• Participates in teamwork, collaboration, and conflict resolution.
• Provides individual or group instruction under teacher guidance.
• Maintains confidentiality of student and staff information.
