Job summary

University of Maryland Capital Region Health seeks an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Acute Care Emergency Surgery (ACES) team in Largo, Maryland, on a PRN basis. This role offers exposure to trauma, acute care surgery, procedures, and operating room activity.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team, perform histories and exams, rounds, orders, and assist in the OR, while supporting continuity of care for critically ill patients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required and licensure for Maryland.
• ARC-PA accredited PA program graduate with NCCPA certification.
• Active Maryland medical license (MBP) or nursing license (MBON) as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations.
• Participate in daily patient rounds.
• Order and interpret diagnostic and laboratory testing.
• Develop initial diagnoses and treatment plans with physicians.
• Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive care to critically ill patients.
• Coordinate and communicate care with attending physicians, consulting services, and families.
• First assist in the operating room.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and ongoing care.
• Assist with continuity and coordination of care across surgical services.
