Job summary

Meritus Health in Hagerstown, MD seeks a Trauma Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our fast-paced Trauma and Acute Care Surgery team. You will care for patients with acute injuries in a Level III trauma center and collaborate with surgeons and emergency physicians.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s NP degree, Maryland NP and RN licenses, national NP certification, and BLS/ACLS. Two years in trauma, critical care, or emergency settings is preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Nurse Practitioner required; Doctorate preferred.
• ACNP certification strongly preferred.
• Minimum 2 years in trauma, critical care, emergency, or acute care surgery.
• Active Maryland NP license and RN license.
• National board certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Manage trauma and emergency general surgery admissions and consults
• Perform daily rounding on patients
• Write progress notes and coordinate follow-up care
• Efficiently plan and coordinate patient discharges
• Perform procedures including central line placement and chest tube insertion
• Collaborate closely with trauma surgeons, emergency physicians, and the broader healthcare team

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program (Master’s required; Doctorate preferred)
• Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification strongly preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in trauma, critical care, emergency, or acute care surgery (highly desirable)
• Active Maryland Nurse Practitioner license and current RN license
• National board certification as a Nurse Practitioner
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required
• Strong procedural skills and the ability to work effectively in a high-acuity, team-oriented environment
