Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System in Omaha, NE is seeking a Registered Nurse for the High Acuity Float Pool on the night shift. The RN will support multiple units including ED, CV Surgery, Cardiac Telemetry, PCU, ICU, and more, requiring flexibility and strong critical care skills.

Minimum 2 years of high-acuity experience and an active Nebraska RN license are required. The role emphasizes patient-centered care, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and adherence to professional standards

Qualifications

• RN with BSN required by hiring date or equivalent experience
• Minimum 2 years of experience in high-acuity/ICU, ED, or Progressive Care units
• Current RN license in Nebraska or compact state; BLS/ACLS/PALS as listed in job description
• NIOSH/NIH Stroke Scale or equivalent may be required within orientation

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-acuity nursing care to adults across floating units (ED, CV Surgery, Cardiac Telemetry, PCU, ICU)
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care
• Provide patient and family education and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses, ensure patient safety
• File and communicate shift reports (SBAR) and maintain accurate documentation
• Maintain professional behavior and participate in quality improvement activities
• Address risks and invoke appropriate safety protocols; follow Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies
• Assist with resource management and unit staffing within scope of practice
• Ensure compliance with mandatory education and specialty certifications
