Job summary

Isle of Wight County is seeking a site maintenance worker to oversee Refuse and Recycling Centers and HHW collection under limited supervision. The role may also train to fill in as a roll off driver as needed.

Responsibilities include collecting, handling and preparing HHW for disposal, supervising community service workers, and performing maintenance tasks such as pressure washing, painting and minor repairs. Safety compliance and emergency readiness are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year of related work experience.
• Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience.

Responsibilities

• Collects, handles and prepares HHW for Disposal; Oversees community service workers and work release labor force for the collection of litter and HHW; Provides maintenance to Refuse and Recycling Centers including pressure washing, painting, cleaning, and minor repairs; Provides site clean-up; Fills in for employees on leave as needed; Fills in for roll off drivers on leave as needed; Provides assistance for special events (i.e., county fair); Provides assistance with emergency disaster work; Performs other related duties as assigned; Observes all approved safety and health policies and procedures pertaining to his/her work activities and performs all work tasks in a safe and healthy manner in accordance with County policy.
