Job summary

Isle of Wight County is seeking a Site Maintenance Worker to perform maintenance at Refuse and Recycling Centers and assist with HHW collection. The role includes potential duties as a roll-off driver and coverage for staff on leave as needed.

Under supervision, you will also support special events and emergency response efforts while following county safety policies. Minimum requirements include a High School diploma and 1 year of related work experience; HAZWOPER training and Virginia driver’s

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with maintenance at refuse/recycling centers is preferred.
• Must be able to perform heavy lifting and operate safely in a county environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintains Refuse and Recycling Centers including cleaning, painting, minor repairs and pressure washing.
• Collects, handles and prepares HHW for disposal.
• Oversees community service workers and labor for litter/HHW collection.
• Fills in as roll off driver and for employees on leave as needed.
• Provides assistance for special events and emergency disaster work.
• Adheres to safety and health policies and county procedures.
