The College of Health and Human Sciences seeks applications for Academic Advisor I positions to support advising across the college including students in Construction Management, Design and Merchandising, School of Education, Food Science and Human Nutrition, Health and Exercise Science, Human Development and Family Studies, and School of Social Work. This position provides comprehensive advising and programming aimed at fostering student success, retention, and a sense of belonging within their academic major/department/college or Exploratory Studies. Key responsibilities include guiding students in academic planning, overcoming academic barriers, and utilizing campus resources; supporting orientation sessions and academic transitions; managing academic records and communications; and assisting with initiatives to improve student success metrics. The advisor will actively address the unique strengths and needs of a diverse student population, including those from underrepresented and first-generation backgrounds. Collaboration with college departments, participation in student engagement events, and administrative contributions are essential aspects of this role. By employing a holistic and innovative approach, the advisor will play a pivotal role in empowering students to achieve their academic and personal goals while attending the university.
