Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is recruiting an HGV Driver for a 1-month contract with a local authority. The role focuses on safe and efficient refuse and recycling collection, delivering essential municipal services in an outdoor environment.

You will operate HGV Class 2 vehicles, lead a small crew, perform daily vehicle checks and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards while providing strong customer service to residents and businesses.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence and CPC required.
• Experience operating HGV vehicles safely.
• Good communication and team collaboration abilities.
• Desirable: CPC with waste management or health & safety training.

Responsibilities

• Operate HGV Class 2 collection vehicles safely and efficiently along designated routes.
• Lead and support a small crew to ensure timely collections.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety and environmental regulations.
• Deliver high standard of customer service to residents and local businesses.
• Work with team outdoors in varying weather.
• Assist loaders with collections to support efficiency.
