Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism is seeking a Cultural Resources Manager within the Resource Management unit. You will oversee cultural resource projects, manage collections, and coordinate with field staff to preserve and interpret South Carolina’s historic sites.

Responsibilities include training staff, coordinating interpretive programs, advising on policies for cultural resources, and representing the office on agency teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in history, cultural resource management or related field with 3 years' historic site management and interpretation experience, or Master’s with 1 year.
• State Issued driver’s license.
• Within one year, become a South Carolina Qualified Preservation Professional per state laws.
• Commitment to teamwork and cross-agency collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Oversees restoration, preservation and stabilization of cultural resources.
• Manages collections and archives for the Park Service.
• Leads training and promotes teamwork with field staff and agency stakeholders.
• Coordinates interpretive programs, exhibits and educational publications.
• Advises on policies and strategies for history and cultural resources.
• Represents the office on agency teams throughout the year.
