Job summary

Odessa College is seeking a Work-Study LRC Archive Technician to support preservation, organization, digitization, and access to historical materials in the Learning Resources Center. You will assist with digitization, metadata, and basic digital records, while upholding preservation practices.

You will conduct historical research using Newspapers.com and other approved databases, and serve as a student liaison for campus projects that enrich the community and preserve institutional knowledge.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle historical documents with care.

Responsibilities

• Organize, inventory, and prepare materials in the LRC Archive Room.
• Digitize photographs, documents, newspapers, and memorabilia using approved equipment.
• Create and maintain basic digital records and metadata for digitized materials.
• Follow procedures for naming, organizing, storing, and preserving digital files.
• Identify materials requiring special handling or preservation attention.
• Maintain an organized physical and digital archive.
• Assist with developing and maintaining an inventory of archival collections.
• Handle historical materials with appropriate preservation practices.
