Job summary

Duke University Health System seeks an Advanced Practice Provider to deliver specialized care to adult patients with liver disease, primarily on the general hepatology inpatient service, with possible outpatient GI Day Hospital coverage. The role emphasizes advanced liver disease management, transplant evaluation, post-transplant care, and coordination within a multidisciplinary hepatology team.

Primary hours are Monday through Friday, day shift, with flexibility to meet patient and clinical

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Master's degree.
• PA program completion; Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Record the history of present illness, past medical, family and social history, and perform exams in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Establish and develop treatment plans in collaboration with MDs.
• Assist with inpatient transplant evaluations.
• Prescribe medications and manage prior authorizations and refills.
• Coordinate care and refer to other medical professionals as needed.
• Document consult notes and encounters in the Epic Maestro system.
