Job summary

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC to provide specialized care to adult patients with liver disease, primarily on the general hepatology inpatient service, with potential coverage of the outpatient GI Day Hospital.

The role focuses on advanced liver disease management, transplant evaluation, post transplant care, paracentesis, and coordination of multidisciplinary hepatology care.

Qualifications

• Nurse Practitioners: Master’s degree in Nursing and NP certification.
• Physician Assistants: PA program completion; Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
• ALS and BLS certifications required.
• NC RN licensure for APNs; NC PA licensure for PAs.
• 1+ year APP experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Record HPI and physical exams in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Establish and develop treatment plans with MD collaboration.
• Assist with inpatient transplant evaluations.
• Prescribe medications and manage prior authorizations.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary hepatology care and patient education.
• Document encounters in the Epic (Maestro) system.
• Attend relevant hepatology and GI conferences when possible.
