Job summary

Ymca Of Greater Indianapolis is seeking a seasonal Lifeguard at Jordan YMCA in Indianapolis, IN to ensure a safe pool environment for all participants. The role requires CPR/First Aid certification and the ability to perform lifeguard skills tests, including a 500-yard swim.

You will respond to emergencies following YMCA and American Heart Association guidelines and help maintain a positive, safe experience for swimmers of all ages.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Must possess and maintain lifeguard certifications (YMCA/ARC/Ellis) including First Aid and CPR.
• Ability to pass basic lifeguard skills test, including 500-yard swim.
• Able to relate to and communicate with people of all ages, cultures, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe environment for all pool participants and surrounding areas.
• Respond to emergencies and administer CPR and First Aid per guidelines.
• Maintain awareness of safety rules and supervise swimmers at all times.

Under the direction of the Aquatic Coordinator/ Program Specialist and Head Guard, the Lifeguard is responsible for providing a safe environment for all participants in and around the pool, which includes responding to emergencies and administering CPR and First Aid effectively (according to certifications-YMCA and American Heart Association guidelines).

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.


• Must possess and maintain current YMCA Lifeguard certificate, American Red Cross Lifeguard certificate or Ellis and Associates Lifeguard Certificate, including current First Aid and CPR Healthcare Provider certifications.


• Must have the ability to pass basic lifeguard skills test, including swimming 500 yards.


• Must possess and have the ability to relate to and communicate with people of all ages, cultures, and abilities.
