Job summary

UC San Diego in San Diego, CA seeks an experienced researcher to lead experiments on hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells, isolating and culturing mouse and human cells, and performing in vivo transplantations. You will generate vectors and apply CRISPR strategies, with analysis by flow cytometry and RNA-seq to advance understanding of erythroid biology.

The role requires mentoring undergraduates and postdocs, precise data recording, and strong communication. Occasional evenings may be needed.

Qualifications

Theoretical knowledge in molecular/cellular biology typically with an advanced degree.
Experience generating retroviral and lentiviral vectors.
Experience with molecular cloning and CRISPR activation/knockout.
Experience purifying red blood cell extracellular vesicles and cytometry.
Experience maintaining cytoflex and BD FACSymphony instruments.
Experience isolating mouse and human hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells.
Strong data handling using Excel and Prism; clear documentation.
Excellent verbal and written communication; mentoring ability.

Responsibilities

Independently perform and lead experiments on hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells.
Isolate and culture mouse and human cells ex vivo; perform in vivo transplantations.
Produce retroviral/lentiviral vectors and perform CRISPR knockouts; assess by flow cytometry and RNA-seq.
Document procedures and results; supervise undergraduates/postdocs as needed.
