Job summary

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in the United States is seeking a Laboratory Technologist II/III to perform preliminary review of bone marrow and tissue specimens within the Hematopathology Service. You will work with Histology, IHC, Cytogenetics, Molecular, and Flow labs to coordinate testing.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related science, NYS license, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Lab Sciences, or Biological, Chemical or Physical Sciences.
• 4 years' experience as a NYS Certified Medical Laboratory Technologist.
• Current New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License.
• Experience in morphological identification of bone marrow aspirates.
• Immunohistochemistry experience preferred but not required.
• Experience performing peripheral blood differential count preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate testing with Histology, IHC, Cytogenetics, Molecular, and Flow labs within DPLM.
• Review requisitions and verify specimen data and order entry.
• Perform morphological review on bone marrow aspirates, biopsy specimens, tissue specimens and peripheral blood smears.
• Correlate morphologic findings with clinical history and enter results.
• Create concise, accurate reports using hematopathology templates for review by pathologist.
• Retrieve pertinent medical history and laboratory results.
• Determine if ancillary testing is necessary based on differential diagnosis.
• Maintain complete, accurate records and entries.
• Prepare results and create neat, well-formatted documents.
