Job summary

Accu Reference Medical Lab is seeking a Hematology Supervisor for the night shift in Linden, NJ. This on-site role oversees nightly hematology operations, staff, and workflow, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance across testing processes.

The supervisor will train technologists, review results, troubleshoot analyzers, and coordinate with other departments to maintain quality and turnaround times. A MLS/MT/MLT background and leadership experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field
• MLS/MT or MLT certification (ASCP or equivalent) preferred
• Experience in hematology testing and supervising technologists
• Knowledge of CLIA, CAP and related regulations with emphasis on documentation
• Experience with laboratory instrumentation, maintenance, troubleshooting and validation
• Proven supervisory and leadership abilities including staff scheduling and coaching
• Strong data entry and reporting skills in a laboratory information system (LIS)
• Ability to work reliably during night shifts and maintain high accuracy and safety

Role Description

The Hematology Supervisor (night shift) is a full-time on-site role based in Linden, NJ. This position oversees nightly hematology laboratory operations, including staffing, workflow, and adherence to quality and safety protocols. The supervisor reviews and verifies test results, troubleshoots instrumentation issues, ensures proper sample handling, and maintains compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Daily responsibilities include training and mentoring hematology technologists, conducting competency assessments, monitoring turnaround times, and coordinating with other departments to resolve testing and reporting issues. The role also involves maintaining documentation, participating in process improvement initiatives, and supporting audits and inspections during night operations.

Qualifications

• Strong hematology laboratory experience, including test performance, result interpretation, and quality control practices.
• Experience with laboratory instrumentation, including operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and validation of hematology analyzers.
• Knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and other relevant regulatory requirements, with a focus on compliance and documentation.
• Supervisory and leadership skills, including staff scheduling, training, performance feedback, and conflict resolution.
• Proficiency in laboratory information systems and basic computer skills for data entry, reporting, and documentation.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and night shift staff.
• Ability to work reliably during night shifts and maintain high standards of accuracy and safety.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field; MLS/MT or MLT certification (ASCP or equivalent) preferred.
• Previous experience in hematology and laboratory supervision or lead technologist responsibilities strongly preferred.
