Job summary

Pascack Valley Medical Center in Westwood, NJ invites applications for a Day Shift, full-time Blood Bank - Laboratory Supervisor. This MLS Supervisor will lead the laboratory department and oversee staff performing clinical testing, focusing on Blood Bank operations.

The role requires a MLS/MT with leadership experience, ASCP or equivalent certification, and a strong understanding of high-complexity testing and QA in a hospital lab.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science or Physical Science.
• OR
• Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technician with >2 years in a high complexity clinical laboratory.
• ASCP or equivalent; certification must be maintained without lapse during employment.
• If certification does lapse, job will be downgraded to MLS (non-certified) or MLT (non-certified) until reinstated.
• Current knowledge of pathology laboratory techniques and principles.
• Clinical laboratory experience as MLS/CLT/MLT within a clinical laboratory.
• 1+ years’ experience with high complexity testing (Blood Bank).
• Overall knowledge of lab operations including quality control, safety, and problem solving.
• Shows evidence of leadership skills in managing people.
• Knowledge of department shift operations.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Problem-solving and conflict resolution.

• Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center is a 128-bed, full-service, acute-care community hospital with a new emergency department, a state-of-the-art maternity center, a women's imaging center, and an ICU.

Responsibilities

The Medical Laboratory Scientist Supervisor (MLS Supervisor) functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for leading a laboratory department. With direct oversight of staff who perform clinical laboratory testing specific to that laboratory department.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science or Physical Science

• Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technician with >2 years of experience in a high complexity clinical laboratory.
• ASCP or equivalent.

Preferred Job Requirements

• 5+ years’ experience in a clinical laboratory.
• Previous experience in a leadership role, billing compliance, performance improvement, and regulatory standards.
• Blood Bank Experience

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
