Job Description
- Hematology/Oncology Physicians will practice at our main campus in Urbana, with one day per week at a satellite location.
- Training and interest in both Hematology and Oncology are required. Physicians can specialize in their area of interest within oncology. Board eligibility for new graduates and board certification in both hematology and oncology are required.
- Both experienced candidates and new graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Mentorship will be provided for new graduates. The Hematology/Oncology Physician will work with nine other Oncologists.
- The main location is in Urbana, IL, with satellite locations in East Central Illinois.
- The practice includes radiation oncology, surgical oncology, gynecologic oncology, and breast surgery at Carle Cancer Institute, and colorectal surgery, interventional radiology, urology, neurosurgery, head and neck surgery, and thoracic surgery at the hospital.
- EPIC electronic medical record system is used.
- The Hematology/Oncology Physician will enjoy a very generous compensation package within a stable health system, practicing in a multidisciplinary setting with weekly disease-specific tumor boards (e.g., Upper GI, Lower GI, Breast, Thoracic), and strong support from Radiation Oncology and Surgical Services.
- The Breast Cancer Program has CoC and NAPBC accreditations, with weekly Tumor Board meetings and a multidisciplinary clinic.
- The Cancer Institute is involved in strong clinical research, including a National Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) grant from the National Cancer Institute (NCI), with over 100 open clinical trials in East Central Illinois.
- Participation in clinical trials is a job requirement. Candidates with a strong academic background may be considered for a research component. The Cancer Institute hosts the Stephens Family Clinical Research Institute, supporting investigator-initiated studies, and collaborates closely with the University of Illinois Basic Science Cancer Center.
