Overview

Carle Foundation Hospital is excited to add BE/BC Hematology/Oncology Physicians with the opportunity to specialize in his/her area of interest in oncology to the Carle Cancer Institute in Urbana, Illinois. Physicians would practice at our main campus in Urbana with one day of work per week at one of Carle’s Hematology/Oncology satellite locations.


Opportunity Details

Hematology/Oncology Physicians would practice at our main campus in Urbana with one day of work per week at one of Carle’s Hematology/Oncology satellite locations. Training and interest in both Hematology and Oncology are required. The physician will be able to specialize in his/her area of interest in oncology. Board eligibility for new graduates and board certification in both hematology and oncology are required.

Candidates with experience and new graduates are very welcome to apply. Mentorship for new graduates will be provided. Hematology/Oncology Physicians would work with nine (9) other Oncologists in the practice. The practice’s main location is in Urbana, IL, with several satellite locations in East Central Illinois. The practice has radiation oncology, surgical oncology, gynecologic oncology, and breast surgery at Carle Cancer Institute, with colorectal surgery, interventional radiology, urology, neurosurgery, head and neck surgery, and thoracic surgery at Carle Foundation Hospital. Carle Cancer Institute is a part of Carle Foundation Hospital, and both are located at the same campus in Urbana, allowing all services to be integrated into our Multi-disciplinary Cancer Care Model. EPIC electronic medical record is utilized.

Hematology/Oncology Physicians would enjoy a very generous compensation package in a stable, vertically integrated Carle Health System, while practicing in a multi-disciplinary setting with Weekly Disease Specific Tumor Boards (Upper GI, Lower GI, Breast, Thoracic, etc.), and strong support from Radiation Oncology and all Surgical Services. Our Breast Cancer Program has both CoC and NAPBC Accreditations with a weekly Breast Cancer Tumor Board and Multi-disciplinary Breast Cancer Clinic. Carle Health system is one of the very few health systems in the nation to offer its own health insurance product – Health Alliance Medical Plans (HAMP). In 2018, Carle and the University of Illinois opened their doors to the first medical student class at the new Carle Illinois College of Medicine. Academic appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Teaching medical students and Internal Medicine residents is a job expectation for this position.

Carle Cancer Institute has strong clinical cancer research with a National Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) Grant from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and currently has > 100 open clinical trials for cancer patients in East Central Illinois. Patient accrual to clinical trials is a job expectation for this position. For candidates with a strong academic background, a research component will be considered. Carle Cancer Institute is home to the Stephens Family Clinical Research Institute with an existing opportunity to support investigator-initiated studies. In addition, Carle Cancer Institute has a close collaboration with the University of Illinois Basic Science Cancer Center in Urbana, Illinois.

Champaign-Urbana is home to the University of Illinois with more than 40,000 students. This is a very cosmopolitan place with a variety of restaurants offering international cuisine and a proximity to two large metropolitan areas, Chicago and Indianapolis (only a 2-hour drive).

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $575,000 - $750,000. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked, and compensation model.
