Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System in New York seeks a Physician Assistant for Hematology/Oncology to support inpatient and outpatient care at Elmhurst Hospital. The PA will work with an attending, take histories, perform exams, assist bone marrow biopsies, and coordinate chemotherapy-related care.

Candidates must be licensed NY PA, NCCPA certified, BLS/ACLS, and have excellent communication. Training is available for new graduates.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree required.
Licensed Physician Assistant (LPA) by NYS Education Dept. required.
Current NCCPA certification required.
Current BLS and ACLS certification required.
Excellent written and oral communication; able to learn in a fast-growing field.

Responsibilities

Take initial patient histories and perform exams with documentation in EPIC.
Assist/perform bone marrow biopsies.
Document and communicate plan of care and follow-up for screening and preparation.
Coordinate care for inpatient chemotherapy and oncologic workup.
Respond to patient messages, med refills, and symptom concerns for hematology/oncology patients.
Assist with e-consults and referrals coordination.
Write orders for meds, labs, and diagnostic tests; obtain specialty meds as needed.
Consult with attending physicians and team to ensure high-quality patient care.
Manage urgent infusion center issues and adverse infusion reactions.
