Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a Physician Assistant to support Hematology/Oncology patients at Elmhurst Hospital in Queens. The PA will see inpatients and outpatients, taking histories, performing exams, and coordinating care with an attending physician.

Responsibilities include assisting bone marrow biopsies, managing chemotherapy-related care, writing orders, and responding to patient messages. Open to new graduates; NYS PA license and NCCPA certification are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Licensed Physician Assistant (LPA) by the New York State Department of Education, required.
• Current NCCPA Certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), required.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification, required.
• MS Word basic, PowerPoint basic, EPIC.

Responsibilities

• Take initial patient histories and perform physical examinations.
• Assist/perform bone marrow biopsies to improve diagnostic efficiency.
• Initiate, document and communicate the plan of care with follow-up.
• Coordinate care for inpatients receiving chemotherapy or oncologic workup.
• Manage patient inbox messages, medication refills, and related inquiries.
• Assist with e-consults and coordinate referrals.
• Write orders for medications, labs, and diagnostic tests; obtain specialty meds.
• Discuss results with attending physicians and care teams.
• Handle urgent infusion center issues and acute symptom management.
• Perform related duties and participate in special projects as directed by the department.
